Maureen C. Fleming, M.Phil.Ed., Student
570-908-2759 ext 2759
Old Forge, PA

Maureen Fleming is completing the last requirement of her doctoral degree (Ph.D) through a year-long clinical psychology internship at Tiffany Griffiths, Psy.D. & Associates. In pursuance of her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degree, she completed coursework and defended her dissertation at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon.  She attended Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pennsylvania for her bachelor’s degree with honors in psychology and a minor in Spanish. In addition, Maureen earned two master’s degrees in counseling from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – the first, a Master’s of Science of Education (M.S.Ed.) in Counseling and Mental Health Counseling, and the second, a Master’s of Philosophy of Education (M.Phil.Ed). in Professional Counseling.

Maureen takes a human-centered approach within a social justice framework. This means she focuses on the interaction between clients’ intersectional identities and lived experiences, societal forces/social institutions, and clients’ presenting problems – while uplifting clients to be the experts in their healing processes. The therapeutic relationship is of utmost priority throughout her work with clients. Her practice also relies heavily on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) structure and strategies. She has found that the combination of a human-centered approach within a social justice framework along with CBT allows for clients to feel seen and heard, while simultaneously making progress toward their goals an seeing reductions in symptoms. Her clinical style is encouraging and motivating, while prioritizing space to challenge harmful beliefs and internalized oppression that clients are ready to shed. Maureen honors the coping skills clients have developed to survive thus far and looks forward to providing a warm and nonjudgmental space for clients to grow.
