
Karen Benjamin-Hamlet is an experienced Master Level Licensed Social Worker. Karen holds a Master of Social Work from Fordham University in New York. Karen received her BS in Legal Studies from John Jay College.
Karen is trained in numerous modules including, but not limited to, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Trauma. Karen served as the Executive Director of Survivor services at the Manhattan District attorney’s Office where she trained and taught on trauma and its effects on the brain. Karen has advanced training in suicidality, relational conflict, and crisis intervention, and she is particularly passionate about couples counseling, helping partners improve communication, repair ruptures, and build more secure and fulfilling relationships. Her clinical approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing, allowing her to support clients in developing insight, emotional regulation, and meaningful behavior changes.
In addition to her clinical work, Karen is a presenter on a range of mental health topics, sharing her expertise with professionals, organizations, and communities. She is deeply committed to education, advocacy, and reducing stigma surrounding mental health and trauma.
Her areas of expertise include depression and anxiety, trauma, assertiveness training, relational coaching, couple’s communication and intimacy, affairs and infidelity, and parenting effectiveness. She specializes in working with individuals struggling with PTSD, trauma, self-image as well couples who are struggling with relationships, marital and sexual issues, identity concerns and life transitions.
At the core of her work is a passion for helping individuals and couples navigate life in a way that aligns with their values and the future they truly envision, fostering resilience, self-awareness, and lasting growth.
